What the release reports
The March 2022 proposal increases Work Permit and S Pass annual insurance coverage to at least S$60,000. The first S$15,000 remains fully covered.
Details and conditions
Insurers would cover seventy-five percent above that first band, with employers sharing the remainder. Other features include standard exclusions, age-based premiums and direct hospital reimbursement.
Context and follow-up
The source notes later updates to exclusions. Its original implementation expectation was subsequently replaced by the phased July 2023 and July 2025 announcement. The table below explains the proposed cost split rather than implying employers have no residual medical responsibility.
Proposed cost sharing
| Band | Insurer | Employer |
|---|---|---|
| First S$15,000 | 100% | 0% |
| Above first S$15,000 | 75%, subject to annual limit | 25% plus any beyond cover |
