What the release reports
The Government accepted twenty-two final recommendations in August 2023, following consultation on the interim report. They proposed protection across recruitment, employment and dismissal.
Details and conditions
Protected characteristics, fair job advertising and anti-retaliation measures would operate alongside retained tripartite guidelines. Proposed exceptions covered genuine job requirements, religious organisations and an initial exemption for firms below twenty-five employees.
Context and follow-up
Grievance handling, TADM mediation, union support and tribunal recourse formed the proposed resolution pathway. The 2023 recommendations envisaged compensation limits different from the later Bills. This article preserves the recommendation-stage context; subsequent legislation determines the final framework.
