What the release reports
A tripartite workgroup held its first meeting on 4 August 2025 to review Singapore’s principal employment law. It expected to submit recommendations in the second half of 2026.
Details and conditions
The review addresses changing workforce profiles, forms of work and economic conditions, including adequate protection for different worker groups and simpler compliance for businesses.
Context and follow-up
Its objectives are maintaining basic standards, balancing business and worker interests, and preserving a functioning labour market. Employers and employees will be consulted. The announcement starts a review; it does not itself change employment entitlements or introduce a final amendment package.
