What the release reports
GD Group was fined S$94,500 after seven false-salary charges, with thirteen others considered. It was barred from foreign hiring.
Details and conditions
Twenty EP applications declared S$4,000–S$4,800 salaries during 2013–2015, while workers received S$1,500–S$2,200. The scheme bypassed controls applicable to lower-paid foreign hiring.
Context and follow-up
Declared salary must match genuine employment terms and payment. Holding an EP obtained on inflated figures does not make the underlying arrangement compliant; the December 2018 conviction was reported in January 2019.
