What the release reports
Enhanced fair-employment guidelines were announced for mid-February 2023, addressing workplace events and causes unrelated to employees’ jobs.
Details and conditions
Employers must respect cultural, personal and belief differences, prevent bullying or exclusion, and assess performance only on job-related grounds. Employees should not be pressured to participate, nor penalised for declining.
Context and follow-up
Safe grievance channels are important. TAFEP accepts reports and can refer non-compliance to MOM, which may curtail work-pass privileges. The rules concern fair treatment around non-work activities, not a ban on every workplace programme supporting a cause.
Official source
This report is independently written from the MOM release dated above. Case status, policy announcements and historical figures refer to that release.
