Course eligibility and exemptions
A foreign student accepted into an approved full-time course normally needs a Student’s Pass. Part-time, evening and weekend courses are not eligible. Valid DP, LTVP and Immigration Exemption Order holders may study full-time non-religious courses during their existing pass validity. Religious study has separate rules. A short-course exemption requires completion within the shorter of 30 days or the visit-pass validity, a standalone module, and no specified practical occupational training/customer-facing attachment.
Documents, sponsor forms and examples
Prepare the school registration acknowledgement, passport biodata page and relevant birth certificate, recent photo, residence/contact/email details, education/employment history, financial support and relevant family information. Non-English records need accepted translations. Government-school/ITE sponsors must complete their undertakings; an eligible citizen/PR parent or step-parent must act as sponsor. Foreign-born applicants aged 12 years or below must submit vaccination information as ICA specifies. For example, moving to a different PEI/course needs a new pass application; holding an admission letter alone is insufficient.
